new emmanuel top label. lost in berlin is a mechanical angry monster with multiple arms that swings around for destruction. it�s unstoppable for words, you have to accept the fact that you have been hit by a concrete wall. what i love in records is the menace inside it that builds up. the impossible energy that drags you in to this tunnel of a white dimension with grey electric colors. bipolaire: it all starts with a kick, not a simple kick but a et kick and before you know it you are struck by lightning. the subs are playing with you, simple but again with atomic temperature. the acid sound that hits you is never going to surrender his inferior temper. capture: only that words remind me of the spirit capture and it�s not easy make an equivalent of the original that is not even made with the inspiration of the mod wheel. it�s not just a wicked intro that can take you to different roads. you can decide what way you will take but be careful with what comes next.

nice price deal !!! macro has been the home for the albums of some of electronic music�s most exciting live acts. so when a live band enters this context, it should better enter with a bang. kuf do just this with their album debut. the three-piece outfit with keys, bass and drums cooks up a sound that is as warm, cozy and exciting as it is utterly alien. the rhythm section hints at the great history of dirty funk and bouncing r�n b, but the grooves are firmly of today: dance-centered, thrillingly interactive and broken up at the best possible joints. the bewildering thing about kuf is that it is a vocal-led group that has no singer on stage at all. all vocal elements are based on self-recorded samples which keyboard whizz kid tom schneider melds and bends and squeezes in real time. as if it was the most natural thing to do. with no artificial synchronization in place, valentin link on bass and hendrik havekost on drums push the disembodied voices into an arena of hyperintegrated realtime magic of rough soul, intertwined by improvised outbursts and shaped with the aesthetics of raw mpc-based cut up techno.

yalta is a resort city on the southern coast of the crimean peninsula surrounded by the black sea. this place has heavily influenced a talented artist pavel milyakov also known as buttechno. this album is his dedication to yalta, but it�s not just about geographical location, it�s about a special and sacred state of mind and soul that the producer calls -yalta-. this very personal work of a mature author reflects his deep and multifaceted approach to the research of the sound language.

hot off a couple of 12� from topher horn, rocksteady disco follows up with its first compilation featuring a heap of heavily sampled originals from more well-known editors. pontchartrain leads the release off with a summer-inspired aural prozac number, just in time for this june release. next up is notorious detroit editor lafleur, busting out this original milky-smooth detroit boogie house production. a slight little rearrangement from rocksteady disco label boss peter croce makes this one a bit smoother for the djs. lyon, france�s g2s kicks off the flip with a big-bottomed stomper reminiscent of some mcde �raw cuts�. pontchartrain book-ends this release with a track that puts the �rocksteady� in rocksteady disco, with heavy analog-meets-electro drum programming and complete with pontchartrain on vocoder duties. hand numbered edition of 500 copies with dl code.

2016 sees label boss aubrey release his first full ep on solid groove since 2003. a1-time level bypass is a peak time 12 min long bass groove with alien noises throughout. b1 rangoose, is a unreleased track originally made by aubrey in 1998, heavy in nature for the purists. b2-mf-104 is a 120bpm deep house track more suited for a 7am play, with lush echos from the rare moogerfooger mf-104 delay limited to just over 500 units made.

black country overlord justin k broadrick (jesu, godflesh) blesses regis� downwards fiefdom with two tracks and a tightly sprung rework by surgeon. downwards have really picked the foulest iterations of a grim set for vinyl release, inscribing the industrial-strength torque of nothing is free - which sounds like early kode 9 battered by shapednoise - at 45rpm across the front face, and branding the knuckling 808 snares and distended electro bass blow out of kontorted on its backside. surgeon�s remix of the title tune ranks among his best in many years. trace elements of the original are extruded thru modular kit and remodelled on a bouncing, swerving techno chassis recalling bmb and cub classics, but streaked with sirens and vamped by a marching brass refrain that�s just spoiling for war. the release marks a long overdue overlap between downwards� and broadrick�s interrelated industrial, noise and techno circles. broadrick was the original drummer for napalm death on their scum (1987) album, before forming the legendary godflesh, and carving out an oeuvre as one of the most feared and respected musicians to emerge from birmingham and the uk ever since.

reissue of an eye for an eye by byrne & barnes: a true westcoast/aor masterpiece, produced in legendary music city muscle shoals (alabama) and originally only released on japanese label climax. in 1981, robert byrne followed up to his 1979 album, blame it on the night, by teaming-up with multi-instrumentalist brendan barnes to record this rare westcoast classic. if they never recorded any other music together, both display incredible music career and went on to produce for many famous artists such as pointer sisters, patti austin, earth wind & fire, phil collins, brian mcknight, or boyz ii men to name just a few.

quite a few months have passed since adam port released his last original material on keinemusik. it�s been almost too long. but then again, every expert will confirm, you won�t see a �sonnenfinsternis� every other week. port�s new ep is going under the name of that very astronomical curiosity and accordingly, the like-titled cut on a can only be the result of a rare cosmic constellation. it starts with a spoken word field recording. could it be, someone secretly recorded parts of the internal pre-release labelmeeting? we�ll leave that to your imagination. but then, all solid facts. a forceful beat, decorated with hihat-hiss, stoically pounding synthbass, rattling snare-staccato and space-opening synth-layers. finally, some siren�s wailing, just in case someone didn�t get the immediacy of this material. classy floor substance, that is, with the scarcity value of an eclipse. �working for it�, as the first track on the flipside, is rather going for the deeper realms. this coproduction with jennifer touch, a singer/producer that just moved from leipzig to berlin, is built up on a cosy, warm synth-priming, that touch congenially contrasts with her undercooled wavy vocals. an emotional rollercoaster, if you will.

welcome to number 38 in the moton series where the chaps join up with legendary record collector, bbe compiler, love vinyl man and reckless pirate the mighty zaf for a stupendous 3 tracker where he brings his editing skills to the forefront. kicking off with the hardcore disco string driven monster doing our own thing zaf let s the rhythm just bubble. he then steps down into the sultry gangster groove of i can t let him down which is a real hand raiser and then he gets our mixers delight on with get down beats. another master release from moton.

this is an album of deeply emotional music. it s not all heartfelt niceties and eye-welling moods though. rhythmic theory did after all come to light (or should that be dark) in the gloomy alleyways of uk soundsystem music begat from dubstep and all that other stuff. -creeper- is on hand to affirm that this is a record still steeped in true, stern moodiness, where a stalking sub line, some metallic percussion and an icy drone can still strike fear more than a thousand angry wobble basslines. it s worth noting how much attention has been given to shorter vignettes. as well as the aforementioned, cryptically titled -interlude-, -work of fiction- and -end (of forever)- both give insights into the places rhythmic theory cares to roam beyond the structure of a long form track. these are places where melancholic or downright ambiguous dispositions interplay with each other, from the synthetic to the earthly, the malevolent to the tender. in the end, even at its most monochromatic, nothing is black and white on rhythmic theory s debut album, and that s just fine with us.

basil & rogers is a sleazy, california disco duo made up of heru (dj) johnny basil and body rogers. basil, a multi-instrumentalist, long-time record collector, and energy healer is a man that s been making music for a long time under many different guises and in many different styles. heru avenger (acid/psych rock), non stop (electronic/free jazz), baast (kraut rock/jazz funk), and kandi jones (slut rock) are just a few of his projects, past and present. most of this music has been around for the entirety of the 90 s and 2000 s without being heard because despite basil s outspoken appearance (described by many as looking like iggy pop s twin brother and would never be caught wearing a t-shirt no matter the location) he s very quiet about his musical output. body rogers is also part of the non stop group and is a master of electronics and engineering. on the basil & rogers project the two have made a disco 12- that is influenced by classic-era dance music while still being completely unique and far from conforming. it s crazy, it s sexy, and it s sleazy. tune in .
